About Us

Ashok Trust is a Canada-based non-profit organization that supports children and adults with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges. We help them grow, learn, and live with dignity and purpose.

This work comes from a deeply personal place. Ashok Trust was founded by Mr. San Mahajan, who started it with full empathy and understanding. He knows the struggle. He knows how families often get bound within four walls, caring day and night, with little support, no breaks, and limited resources.

That’s why he made it his mission to make sure others don’t have to go through the same pain, the same fight for basic help, or the same struggle for resources.

At Ashok Trust, we offer more than just care:

  • Special education for children with learning needs
  • Therapies and counselling, supported through funding and
  • Care planning for both the child and the family, based on their specific needs
  • Daily life skills training to help individuals live independently
  • Social activities to support emotional and brain development
  • Safe transportation and healthy lunches for children
  • And most importantly, respite care for families and caregivers

We know that caring for someone with special needs is a full-time responsibility. Families often lose their own time, space, and freedom. Our respite care gives them a chance to rest, breathe, and live their own lives again, without guilt.

Ashok Trust stands for support, dignity, and real change. We believe no one should feel alone in this journey. Everyone deserves the chance to grow, and every family deserves to be supported, not exhausted.

Story Behind the Vision

When Mr. San later witnessed the systems of care and support available in countries like the UK, he felt both gratitude and inspiration. He saw that when strong resources and compassionate communities exist, families can breathe a little easier, and individuals with special needs can flourish. That experience ignited a vision in him: to ensure that no family in India should have to go through the same pain, loneliness, and helplessness that his kin once did.

With this empathy and profound personal experience, Mr. San founded the Ashok Trust. The trust is not just an organization; it is his heartfelt response to the hardships that families supporting those with disabilities know all too well.

The Mission and Scope of Work

The Ashok Trust’s mission is to offer a lifeline to children and adults with mental and developmental disabilities who are often excluded from mainstream education systems. But its work goes far beyond schooling; it is about empowerment, therapy, training, respite care, and most importantly, instilling hope.

The Ashok Trust extends its hand especially to economically challenged families across India, the ones who carry a dual burden: financial difficulties coupled with the pressing need to support their loved ones. The trust pledges to stand by these families, offering not just services but solidarity, understanding, and genuine care.

Mr. San’s vision is not driven by grandeur but rooted deeply in compassion. He believes true change begins with small, deliberate steps, one family supported, one child encouraged, one caregiver heard. Over time, these steps will bloom into a strong and nurturing community.

The Ashok Trust strives to create a future where every individual, regardless of their abilities or economic circumstances, has the opportunity to thrive. In doing so, it becomes not just a beacon of support but a testament to resilience, understanding, and humanity.

The Ashok Trust is Mr. San Mahajan’s pledge to families navigating similar challenges: no one should have to struggle for facilities again. Ashok Trust is a Canadian non-profit organization dedicated to supporting children and adults with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges.

We believe that every person has unique strengths and abilities. That’s why we go beyond basic care, offering respite care through personalized support, education, life-skills training, and developmental programs that help the individual grow and become more independent.

Many of the individuals and families we serve come from underprivileged backgrounds, where resources are limited, and support is hard to find. Through our accessible programs and our approach, we work to fill this gap by sponsoring needy families, so both the individual and caregiver have life experiences beyond the four walls.

At Ashok Trust, we are not just providing care; we are building a community where every life is valued, every family feels supported, and every individual has the chance to flourish.
